Anti-Money Laundering Policy
Why do you need to verify who I am?
1.1 Richmond Casino complies with Canadian requirements covering age limits, identity checks and money laundering. Knowing who our players are is central to meeting those requirements.
1.2 Verification stops criminals from using our games to move or hide money. It also stops people from playing under someone else's name and keeps minors out.
1.3 It protects you too. A verified account is much harder for anyone else to take over or use for fraud.
1.4 Players can sign up only from areas where local law allows it. Before your first deposit is processed, we verify who you are and where you are.
Which records do you hold, and who receives your reports?
2.1 Records of identity checks, documents, deposits, withdrawals and betting activity are kept for the period Canadian law requires.
2.2 We store these records securely, and they're open only to team members doing compliance work. Our Personal Data Policy explains how we protect them.
2.3 When Canadian law calls for it, we send reports on large or suspicious transactions to the appropriate authorities.
2.4 The law can prevent us from telling a player that we have filed a report. In that case, we cannot discuss it.
What happens if my checks fail?
3.1 If we can't confirm your identity, age or location, your account will be restricted. Until we sort it out, you won't be able to deposit, bet or withdraw.
3.2 If documents are missing or unclear, we tell you exactly what is needed and give you a fair chance to send it.
3.3 If documents prove to be fake, altered or belong to someone else, we close the account and void any related bets and winnings. We also report the case when the law calls for it.
3.4 If we find out that a player is under 19, we follow the steps on our Protecting Minors page.
Why would you want to know the source of my money?
4.1 Sometimes we need to understand the origin of the funds you play with. This can happen when deposits are large, when they change suddenly or when activity does not fit your profile.
4.2 Helpful proof can include:
- a recent pay slip
- a bank statement showing regular income
- proof of a property or investment sale
- a tax return
- documents for an inheritance or gift
4.3 We look at this information privately and only use it for compliance. While we examine it, withdrawals may be paused.
4.4 If we can't confirm your funds come from a lawful source, your account may be restricted or closed.
Do you keep watching accounts after sign-up?
5.1 Yes. Checks do not end once you are verified. We monitor activity on every account for the whole time it stays open.
5.2 Our systems flag patterns such as:
- funds that go in and come back out with very little play
- lots of new payment methods added quickly
- deposits that do not match a player's known means
- several accounts linked to one person, device or payment method
- attempts to play from locations where we do not take players
5.3 Withdrawals are paid through Interac e-Transfer, Payz (ecoPayz) or Skrill, and the receiving account must belong to you. Payments to or from third parties are not allowed.
5.4 We may request updated documents if your details change or your ID expires.
Do you screen players against sanctions lists and records of politically exposed persons?
6.1 Yes. We check every player against Canadian and international sanctions lists at sign-up and regularly after that.
6.2 We use the term politically exposed person for anyone who holds, or once held, an important public role, such as a senior politician, judge or military officer. This also covers their relatives and close associates.
6.3 Being a politically exposed person won't stop you from playing. We will simply run extra checks. These may include questions about where your wealth comes from and closer monitoring of your account.
6.4 Anyone named on a sanctions list can't open an account with us, and we will close any account they already hold.
How do you check my identity and age, and which documents do you need?
7.1 At sign-up, you share your full name, date of birth and home address. We compare these details with reliable data sources, and we verify your location before you make your first deposit.
7.2 If the electronic check doesn't give us enough information, we'll ask you for documents. These are usually:
- Photo ID: a valid government-issued photo card, like a passport or driver's licence, showing your name and birth date
- Address: a government letter, utility bill or recent bank statement with your name on it
- Payment method: for Mastercard, a picture of the card's front with the middle digits hidden; for e-wallets such as Skrill or Payz, a screenshot of your wallet page showing your name
7.3 Please send clear colour images where all four corners are visible and nothing is cut off or edited.
7.4 Email your documents to [email protected] using the address on your account. We'll tell you when the check is complete.
Who do I contact about verification?
8.1 All contact is by email:
- [email protected] for sending documents
- [email protected] for questions about checks or a restricted account
- [email protected] for anything else
8.2 Never send documents to any other address. We will never ask for your password.
8.3 For more on accounts and payments, see our Terms & Conditions and Personal Data Policy.
