Protecting Minors
Who is allowed to play at Richmond Casino?
1.1 Our games are for adults aged 19 and over only. No exceptions, ever.
1.2 When you open an account, you confirm that you're 19 or older and that all the details you give are true.
1.3 Opening an account for someone else, or letting a younger person use your account, breaks our Terms & Conditions.
1.4 We never aim our marketing at minors. Our ads and offers are made for adults, and we do not place them where young people are the main audience.
How can parents block gambling sites at home?
2.1 Filtering software and parental controls let you block gambling sites, set screen-time limits and see which apps children download.
2.2 Simple steps that help:
- switch on the parental controls built into phones, tablets, game consoles and computers
- use the content filter offered by your home internet provider
- add a gambling block to your browser or install a filtering app
- require a parent's approval for app store downloads and purchases
- check the age classification of games and apps before children install them
- talk openly with children about online gambling and its risks
2.3 Internet Matters offers free, easy guides for families on setting up controls on common devices and apps.
What happens if you find out a minor has played?
3.1 We lock the account straight away.
3.2 We void every bet the minor placed and cancel any winnings. Where possible, we return deposits to the original payment method.
3.3 If an adult allows someone underage to use their account, we close it permanently and may refuse any new sign-ups from that adult.
3.4 When the law says we must, we pass details to the relevant authorities. In cases of fraud, we may also reach out to the payment company involved.
3.5 Do you think someone under 19 is playing with us? Email [email protected]. If you know the account name or email address, please add it. We treat every report seriously, and we keep your identity private.
How do you confirm that a player is old enough?
4.1 Each player gives a full name and a date of birth at sign-up. If that date shows someone is under 19, the registration can't go ahead.
4.2 To make sure you're an adult, we compare your details with reliable data sources. Your ID and location are also confirmed before you make your first deposit.
4.3 If our electronic check can't confirm your age, we'll ask for a current government photo ID that shows when you were born. Deposits and bets stay blocked until this step is done.
4.4 Checks may be repeated at any time, such as when your account details are updated or you add a new payment method.
4.5 Payment details must belong to the account holder. A card or e-wallet in another person's name is a warning sign we always look into.
How can I keep my account safe on a family device?
5.1 Lots of homes share one laptop or tablet. A few simple habits keep your account out of young hands:
- log out every time you finish playing
- never let your browser remember your password
- set a PIN, password or fingerprint lock on your phone or computer
- set up a separate user profile for each family member
- protect your email and payment apps with their own passwords
- close the casino tab before handing the device to someone else
5.2 Never share your password or tell a young person how to get into your account.
5.3 Worried a child got into your account? Update your password right away and email us so we can look at the activity.
Who can I contact about protecting minors?
6.1 Contact is by email only:

6.2 For free support, families can turn to Internet Matters for online safety advice, and to Gambling Therapy, GamTalk, the Responsible Gambling Council or 211 Alberta when gambling is causing worry at home.
